Woody

After weeks of negotiation, my  garage resident (the Wood mouse) finally realised that to earn his keep of peanuts and sunflower hearts, he must perform...here are some of his highlights.

Twit tawoo

Over the last few weeks I've been very fortunate to be able to use a hide in Cwmbran south Wales which has regular visits from a family of tawny owls. The owls normally appear just after dark and give you regular visits all night until an hour before first light. It can be a long night sitting still in almost complete darkness but very rewarding when you get to watch them feed and call to one another. On one such evening i was woken with a kick in the shins thinking the owls had arrived ,only to have Nigel telling me that my snoring was keeping the owls away . My advice is red bull and mars bars and lie to your dentist .

Just proves what is achievable with a bit of patience !!!!!!

Any one wishing to watch or photograph the owls please contact Ian howells https://www.facebook.com/IHwildlfe/?pnref=lhc
Ian will be happy to help you out with great knowledge on how to obtain your best shots

Luv um or loath um

Over the last few weeks I have be fortunate to be able to spend most evening and some mornings watching this family of foxes. Even after going to the trouble of covering myself in camo and lying down in the nettles and bracken I was always sussed by the local dog walkers lab once even running of with my pasty !!!!
Double trouble

My favourite

For the pixel peepers these images were taken at very high iso with shutter speeds of  less then 100th of a sec .

I arrived an hour before first light on what I had decided to be my last visit only to meet two big brave men putting a sign on the gate (NO ENTRY SHOOTING IN PROGRESS) For those of you that know me will know  how difficult it was for me to walk away needles to say I have not been back .

Try to have a good week

Scottish highlands March 2017

Ive just got back from a week in the Scottish highlands . A great time was had by all we even had some decent weather.

There didn't seem to be many hares about this year the ones we saw were all on the top  of the mountains which made it hard work getting up there carrying our gear.

By the time our week was over all the snow had melted leaving the hares looking very vulnerable.

Crested tits seem to be thin on the ground to with just two showing at lochgarton

The ptarmigan showed very well but again they were very high up the mountains

Red squirrels always a joy to spend some time with.

Wild goat first for me.

On the way home we stopped of in Kircudbright  to photograph this sparrow hawk  which turn out to be a  fascinating experience.

So thats Scotland for another year and yet again its deprived me of my goal .

Ohh  hang on whats that on the track ..........
