Over the last few weeks I've been very fortunate to be able to use a hide in Cwmbran south Wales which has regular visits from a family of tawny owls. The owls normally appear just after dark and give you regular visits all night until an hour before first light. It can be a long night sitting still in almost complete darkness but very rewarding when you get to watch them feed and call to one another. On one such evening i was woken with a kick in the shins thinking the owls had arrived ,only to have Nigel telling me that my snoring was keeping the owls away . My advice is red bull and mars bars and lie to your dentist .
