Sutton park NNR

I Had been watching the reports on this bird for quite some time and despite most of the reports says that people where misbehaving chasing the bird about and the photographers  was doing an superb job of getting us a bad name I decided it was too good an opportunity to miss.

I decided on a plan I would leave home at 4am arrival just before 6am walk across the park to its favourite spot as soon as it got light find the bird and then spend the next 2 hours with it in the the early morning sun light.

Don't you just love it when a plan comes together  😀

By 9am the crowds had started to appear and the light had become quite harsh so I decided to give it best and make for home. 

By the time I had packed my kit away there was 4 photographers trying to hide behind the bush that the bird had previously been feeding from !!!!

Cheddar reservoir

  I spent Sunday with this Grey phalarope not the most obliging bird at first but after the crowds had dispersed and the idiots stopped chasing it round the reservoir it performed beautifully .

Not for the want of trying

After last weeks encounter with the Goshawk I decided to go back for three days and see if I could get a chance of some more pics in better light . I made arrangements to sleep in my van a short walk from the hide which meant I could be in the hide before light and leave after dark to minimise the disturbance . The long and the short of it is it didn't shown . 

The local buzzards made great companions

ONE TWO THREE

 3am Sunday morning saw me going back down the m4 to catch up with Ian and Nigel my photography pals, I had been given Strict instructions to be ready and in the hide before first light .

We didn't  have to wait too long for the first of the cast to appear .

Sparrowhawk 

After the Sparrowhawk things went very quiet most off the afternoon we sat watching continuous thunderstorms roll through the valley . It wasn't until later afternoon when our next guest arrived in the shape of this common buzzard.

  

After the Buzzard had departed the weather took a turn for the worst more storms . The sky was black and the light was appalling which continued to worsen as the time went by . It wasn't until dusk  that the star of the shown turned up which was so frustrating . All three of us were using canons flag ship camera and to be fair its not to bad , though you wouldn't of thought so the slagging it was getting while the bird was on the perch one poor soul suggested moving to Nikon !!!!!

I had a very fortunate weekend being able to spend the afternoon with this Sparrowhawk. The light was quite harsh at times which give some challenging conditions but all very enjoyable .
